FAQ

What level is Zuko in Slayers 2?
Zuko is a Level 10 mini boss with 300 HP. Krue offers the Missing Cutlass quest at Level 7, and the fight does not require the quest, though accepting it lets the kill count for both the drop and the quest.
What is the Cutlass drop rate from Zuko?
The Cutlass drops at 20% per kill, which averages roughly one blade every five defeats. Each kill rolls independently, so a run of misses does not increase the odds on the next attempt.
Where does Zuko spawn?
He circles the open terrain between Windy Peak and the Lost Castle. Approach until the reward panel appears at the top of the screen; it displays his name, level and every possible payout.
Can you beat Zuko with just your fists?
Yes. Fists alone are enough to defeat him and many players do exactly that, though a katana makes the fight noticeably faster and starts building sword mastery at the same time.
Do other players steal your Zuko rewards?
No. Zuko is a shared world spawn, so other players dealing damage shortens the fight while you still receive quest credit and the full reward roll.

Zuko is the first mini boss in Slayers 2 and the single source of the Cutlass, the earliest weapon in the game worth deliberately farming. He sits at Level 10 with only 300 HP, which makes him beatable with a starter kit — the real obstacle is not the fight itself but the 20% drop roll behind it. This guide covers where he spawns, how to read his blocking pattern, and how to make the farm loop as short as possible.

Where does Zuko spawn and what does he drop?

Zuko is a Level 10 mini boss who circles the open terrain between Windy Peak and the Lost Castle. You do not have to hunt him by guesswork — walk toward him until the reward panel appears across the top of the screen, then read the panel to confirm you have the right NPC before you attack.

Drop odds at a glance:

What should you bring before fighting Zuko?

Almost nothing is mandatory, which is exactly why this is a good early farm. Fists alone are enough to beat him, though a weapon speeds it up and starts your sword mastery accruing immediately.

Preparation Why it helps
Any katana Faster kills and sword mastery that carries to every later blade
Movement skills Double jump and wall climb make disengaging much easier
Some Stamina investment The fight is built around dashing clear of his attacks
Points in HP or block Useful only if Zuko keeps ending your combos
Spawn set at Bamboo Grove A failed attempt costs a short jog, not a trip across the map

Raze sells two blades in Windy Peak: the Regular Katana for 500 Wen and the Fancy Katana for 1,500 Wen. Buy the cheap one. The Fancy Katana adds only +1 Additional Damage for triple the price, and mastery builds while you swing anything — see the katana guide for the full weapon list. If you are short on Wen, the codes page is the fastest top-up.

How do you beat Zuko?

The fight has one rule that decides everything: do not commit to a full combo. Zuko blocks early hits, and hitting his guard leaves you standing in front of his counter with no escape route.

  1. Open with brief basic strikes. Two or three hits, not a full string.
  2. Dash out as soon as his wind-up begins. His counter is the only thing in this fight that actually threatens you.
  3. Walk back in after the swing ends. The spacing loop carries the entire fight.
  4. Disengage completely at low health. A short retreat resets his pressure; trading blows at low HP is the fastest way to lose the attempt.
  5. Let other players join. Zuko is a shared spawn, so their damage shortens the fight and you keep full rewards.
Why does Zuko keep interrupting my combos?

Because he blocks. His guard absorbs your opening hits and sets up a counter, so a full combo string walks you straight into it. Shortening your strings to two or three hits removes the problem entirely — his 300 HP falls gradually, and a slow clean kill beats a fast death.

Exact attack names, damage numbers and animation timings

Not published. The fight pattern above is confirmed by public guides, but no source states per-attack frame data or damage values, so this page does not invent them. Test in-game before relying on a specific dodge window.

How do you confirm the Cutlass actually dropped?

Zuko vanishes in a blast effect when he dies, and the top of your screen fills with the payout: +60 EXP, +25 Wen, and mastery for whatever weapon you used. A respawn timer appears alongside it, telling you how long until you can pull him again.

Check the notification feed, not your inventory. A successful roll appears there next to the EXP and Wen entries. If the Cutlass line is absent, the roll failed and you can reset immediately — reading the feed is faster than opening your bag between attempts.

A chest also appears at his death site. Hold the T prompt to loot it. Possible cosmetics include:

  • Chained Glasses
  • Black Kumo Haori
  • Hoshiko Kasa
  • Mist Kumo Sodenashi

Cosmetics can be equipped for stats or worn as vanity, so a piece you will not build around is still worth keeping.

How do you farm the 20% drop rate efficiently?

One drop per five kills is the average, not a promise. Every defeat rolls independently, so five misses do not guarantee success on the sixth and no combat action changes the odds.

Getting the Cutlass is not the whole objective. The weapon carries two skills, and further Zuko kills advance them — no shop or trainer involved. Because one farming route serves both goals, keep going after the first successful drop:

Skill What it does
Double Cut Two aerial slashes dealing damage and light knockback — lets you pressure from range
Quick Draw A heavier air strike that chains into quick slashes and a knockback finisher

Quick Draw is the reason the Cutlass clears early mobs and quest packs faster than a plain katana.

Where does the Cutlass fit in your progression?

The Cutlass is a Rare weapon and behaves like one. Both skills are straightforward damage with light knockback — plenty for early questing, but short on the defensive tools higher-rarity weapons carry. Treat it as the blade that carries you through the early grind, not as a weapon to build a character around.

After you have it, return to Krue to finish Missing Cutlass, then take Tom’s bear-hunting quest at Level 13. Our beginner guide covers the full 1–75 route this fight sits inside.

Frequently asked questions

Can I beat Zuko under Level 7?

The fight itself has no level gate — Level 7 is when Krue offers the quest, not a requirement to attack. That said, the quest is worth taking since it lets a single kill count for both purposes, and a couple of extra Bandit runs will get you there quickly.

Does Zuko reset if I die?

His health resets, but a failed attempt still costs you only the run back — which is why setting your spawn near Bamboo Grove matters more than any gear upgrade early on.

Is Zuko worth farming past the first Cutlass?

Yes, for two reasons: each kill advances the Cutlass skill tree, and the chest table still owes you cosmetics. If you have both covered, move on — the boss locations guide covers where the higher-value drops live.
